This is a remarkable and extraordinary dress that is really a testament to the one-of-a-kind-treasures that one can only find with vintage. I absolutely adore this futuristic maxi dress that is really a work of wearable art. The combination of cut, fabric and that unusual design all work perfectly together for an amazing result. The base fabric is an inky, rich black velvet formed into a simple, but striking cut. The front is scooped and the shoulders have a hint of a cap to them. This tops the A-line cut skirt and gives the dress an almost sculptural feel. Then the entire dress is densely covered with mother of pearl buttons each hand set and topped with two tiny silver beads. These create that fantastic design that highlights the cut and runs over the entire dress. All of those buttons do add weight to the dress but it is remarkable just how balanced it feels once on. It is definitely a designer piece but which is a mystery - it only has its Giorgio Beverly Hills label left. It is remarkable and an outstanding, one-of-a-kind piece from this era that I doubt you will see ever again. Excellent condition.
Fully lined with a black silk. It closes with a back painted metal zipper. I see a couple of buttons that have lost their little silver beads but no missing buttons. Hand finished. Very small, light padding in the shoulders
